Letters are read before they are printed. You write, and then you wait, and a reply comes the way a reply to a letter comes: in days, not minutes.
A letter here is a post. You write it below, and once it is read it goes up in the room you chose, under the name you pick. It does not have to be long, or composed, or begin with Dear anyone.
Choose a room, choose a name, and say the thing you would say once the plates are cleared and nobody has stood up yet.
Use the characters on an ordinary keyboard. Curly quotes and long dashes, which some phones and word processors put in without asking, will send the letter back to you rather than go up altered.
Before you send it, read what happens to your words. It is short, and it is honest about the parts people usually find out afterwards.
One note about this page, because the rest of the site does not work the way it does. Every other page here reads with scripts switched off, and we mean to keep it that way. Sending is the exception. The form below leans on one small script at the door, to tell a person apart from a machine, and it runs on this page and nowhere else. It counts nothing, follows you nowhere, and knows nothing about you except that you are not a machine.
If you would rather not run it, that is a fair choice, and it means this one page will not work for you. Every word we have written is still yours to read.
If something is wrong on the page
There is no address here to write to. That is a choice, and the terms say why. Use the form below instead: for a letter that breaks what is written on the terms page, for something that should not be on a page at all, or for your own letter that you want taken back down.
Nothing sent through it is ever published. No letter comes back either, because there is no address of yours to send one to and none is asked for. What you get instead is the page changing, or the page staying as it is. Both of those are answers.
